This is one Man’s unique view on Life, told in a collection of short stories. Dealing with the death of a best friend, storytelling became a tool in recovering a love for the simple things he had once enjoyed. The words in this book are not the answer to all of Life’s questions or bring about World Peace, but they do recall different tales that can bring about mixed emotions, an easy read for those who simply enjoy reading. A book that you’ll pick-up from time to time and refocus on things of real importance, like your family and friends.
As is the case in any person’s life, the sad parts may make you cry. The happy parts may make you laugh. For the sake of Mother, the immoral parts have been polished-up a bit.

As a reviewer of many, many books, I find that "This Book's Not Perfect But Neither Are We" is somewhat of a rarity among books in its genre. While many books have been written with reflections on one's life, the authors almost always find a way to smooth over their images. Robin Lambert clearly approaches life with the same "grab the Brahma bull by the horns and ride it to the end come hell or high water" approach as Ferris Bueller in the movie "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." The difference is that Ferris Bueller is a fictional character but Robin Lambert and his stories and reflections are quite real. In fact, I am personally able to verify many of them. There is so much value in this book. For one thing, it is a rare glimpse of the late 70s and early 80s where a certain freedom prevailed and many of us took ridiculous but entertaining risks with our lives. Robin Lambert is not afraid to lay out his wrong choices and their consequences, painful to him and colorful or instructive to us. Lambert's book also paints a vivid picture of the way small town Virginia was in the late sixties and early seventies. Kids were free to roam and explore unfettered without mothers (in most cases) breathing down their necks. You were gone for the day on your bike, only to return at supper time in an age with no cell phones. Lambert's book is, in the end, a celebration of life and the true freedom that many talk about but few live. It is an unfettering of the human spirit. Lambert shows us all that you can indeed live life on your own terms but you must be prepared to pay the price for your sometimes unwise actions. The honesty of this work is breathtaking and refreshing in a deep and satisfying way. I look forward to new works from this promising author. This book is far from just entertainment. You will laugh, I'm sure, but I guarantee you won't get through this book without casting a tear. The vignettes that Lambert scatters throughout the book painting pictures of people he has met along the way are unspeakably touching. They hit me in a place, somewhere deep within me. They found that common point of intersection that all humans share and made my eyes watery. The stories don't all stay in the small town as it is impossible for a restless spirit to stay put but in the end, it is in the small town that our heart remains even after it has grown too big for that town.

This Book Not Perfect But Neither Are We edition by Robin Lambert Humor Entertainment eBooks Reviews
Well-written collection of personal stories that have you feel a variety of emotions from laughing out loud to wiping tears....even if you don't personally know the writer or stories themselves. A great look at the world from a gifted writer's eyes.
Easy read. Good entertaining short stories.
Great book. Well written. 😊
Youth come alive. Could be stories from anyone's youth and small town growing up. Wonderful reading and being a part of the story.
I highly recommend this book. It is a pleasure to read and highly relatable to everyone. Short stories that are highly descriptive and pull a reader right in. Good humor, enjoyable, relaxing read.
Loved this book, i am from the same small town and have lived, been to and been part of many of the "experiences" as the author.
The way the book was written brought me back to Shenandoah County, conjured up the faces and uniqueness of many mentioned. While reading the book, there were smiles, out loud laughter, tears and above all a warmth in my soul as i not only remembered the actual times and places, but as the book reminded me of an overall time in our county, state, country and world, i was taken back to some really good days in my life.
Proud of Robin and this accomplishment.
Please get this book, read it, experience it.
Lambert’s memoir is interesting, self-deprecating, funny and often touchingly nostalgic. He covers different periods in his life with honesty and at times lighthearted irreverence. His descriptive phrases are beautifully written. Hopefully there will be more published books by this gifted writer.
